Passengers detained at Gaya airport in Bihar after 110 grams of gold biscuits were found on their arrival in Kolkata.

The smuggling of gold has been revealed as soon as the winter schedule flight starts at Gaya Ji Airport in Bihar. CISF personnel deployed at Gaya Ji Airport on Wednesday recovered a gold biscuit suspected to be smuggled during a routine pre-embarkation security check. The weight of the gold biscuit is 110 grams. The Income Tax Department has initiated an investigation after finding no valid documents.

The gold was hidden inside the bag.

In fact, a passenger Sonu Kumar, who was going to Kolkata from IndiGo’s Delhi-Gaya-Kolkata domestic flight, kept his hand baggage for screening at the pre-embarkation security checkpoint in the domestic hold area of the airport. During the X-Ray baggage inspection, the CISF screener on duty showed an image of the metal hidden inside the bag. He immediately disassembled the bag for a thorough physical examination. After this, passenger profiling and X-ray advance screening have been further tightened at Gaya Zee Airport.

CISF team alerted

In this case, the Crime Intelligence Wing of CISF informed the officials of the Income Tax Department in Gaya and Patna. At the same time, the CISF team stationed at Kolkata Airport was also alerted in advance so that necessary action could be taken as soon as the aircraft arrived.

The passenger was taken into custody.

After the aircraft landed at the Kolkata airport, the passengers were detained by the Income Tax Department officials. After this, the investigation of the documents related to him was started. It is not immediately clear where the gold biscuit found in the passenger came from. The whole matter is being investigated.

Gold smuggling case also reported in Delhi

Let us know that even before this, cases of gold smuggling have been reported at many airports in the country. New Delhi: Customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) have seized gold worth Rs 4.03 crore from a passenger who had come from Dubai in a major crackdown on gold smuggling. During the investigation at the airport, such a large amount of gold was recovered from the passenger, after which the customs officials took it into their custody.
