Gonda: Corruption and harassment case revealed in Devipatan Shakti Samvad, commissioner directs action within 5 days

Many serious allegations came to light during the resolution of women’s problems in the “Maa Pateshwari Shakti Samvad” program held in Devipatan Mandal of Gonda district. Among them, cases related to illegal occupation, harassment and corruption were prominent. In particular, Renu of village Kandharteji accused the Lekhpal of demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Renu said that after the death of her husband and father-in-law, she had applied for the inheritance, but the accountant deliberately made the matter controversial by submitting a wrong report. It was also alleged that the right to his property could not be obtained so far as the demand for bribe was not met. This situation is also having a bad effect on his two young children.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, the Commissioner directed the Additional Commissioner to immediately start an inquiry and register the inheritance properly. Along with providing widow pension and ration card to Renu, instructions were given to the concerned officials to link her children with the sponsorship scheme.

The Commissioner directed all the officers to monitor the complaints received in Shakti Samvad on a daily basis and ensure the disposal of each case within 5 days. He warned that if negligence or corruption was found at any level, strict action would be taken against the erring officials.

This program is proving to be an important step to ensure justice to women and administrative accountability. This initiative of the administration has raised hopes of getting justice to local women and can be a positive change towards speedy resolution of such cases.
