Since, Lord Vishnu rests at this time, auspicious and auspicious things like marriage, engagement, housewarming, naming, tonsure, etc. are not done during the Chaturmas period. This is the time to stay away from worldly pleasures. The time of Chaturmas is considered to be the best for worship, chanting, chanting and sadhana. This year, Devshayani Ekadashi will be celebrated on July 25. Chaturmas is starting on this day, but do you know why Lord Devshayani goes to Yoganidra on the day of Ekadashi? There are two special reasons for this. Let’s find out.

The Legend of Yoganidra
According to a very ancient legend related to Lord Vishnu’s Yoganidra, the Lord in his Vamana avatar asked for three steps of land from the demon king Bali and then measured the earth in the first step, the entire sky in the second step. When God asked King Bali to take the third step, he put his head forward. Lord Vishnu in the form of Vamana was very pleased with the devotion and generosity of Bali. Then Lord Vishnu came in his true form.

Pleased with the devotion of King Bali, Lord Shri Hari gave him residence in the netherworld and made him the king there. At the same time, God said that he himself would become the gatekeeper of the netherworld. After this, Lord King Bali went to the netherworld. Here, due to the absence of God in Vaikunth Dham, the system there started to be affected. Then Mata Lakshmi requested King Bali to let Lord Vishnu go to Vaikuntha. King Bali accepted the words of Mata Lakshmi.

At the same time, he asked God to live in the netherworld for four months. Lord Vishnu accepted King Bali’s prayer. Since then, Lord Vishnu goes to the netherworld for four months and rests. Then they wake up from Yoggidra and return to Vaikunth Dham on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi.

Time of Creation and Balance of Nature
There is a religious belief that God is absorbed in Yoganidra for four months so that the world can balance itself. Brahma ji has created this world. Vishnu ji follows it and Shiva is considered to be its destroyer. During the rainy season, nature comes alive in a new form. At this time, there is greenery and newness in nature. In such a situation, Lord Vishnu rests gives the world a chance to recreate and balance. The Lord’s Yoganidra symbolizes self-purification and continuity of the natural cycle.
