The Bihar government has issued a notice to former MLA Neelam Devi to vacate her government residence on Mall Road in Patna. After the termination of the membership of the State Level Programme Implementation Committee, they have been directed to vacate the accommodation by 25th November 2026. At the same time, Neelam Devi has been removed from the Patna District 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee. At the same time, his status as a minister of state has also ended.

Accused of not following the party’s instructions

Let us know that JDU has expelled Mokama MLA Anant Singh and his wife and former MLA Neelam Devi from the party for 6 years. The party has taken this action against both of them on charges of indulging in anti-party activities. Anant Singh’s primary membership has also been terminated with immediate effect.

In a statement issued by JD(U)’s Bihar unit president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, it has been said that Anant Singh did not follow the party’s instructions. He is also accused of using abusive language against top party leaders and campaigning in support of the opposition candidate.

Anant Singh had supported Jan Suraj Party’s candidate Anuj Singh in the recently held Bihar Legislative Council elections. He also campaigned in favor of Anuj Singh and talked about defeating JDU Legislative Council member Neeraj Kumar. This was considered by the party as indiscipline and anti-party activity. After this, expulsion action was taken against Anant Singh.

Anant Singh’s MLA has also been recommended for dissolution.

The JDU has also recommended to the Bihar Assembly Speaker to terminate Anant Singh’s membership of the assembly. The party has cited the 10th Schedule of the Constitution for this. This Schedule deals with matters relating to defection. However, the final decision on assembly membership will be taken under the relevant constitutional process.

Neelam Devi’s membership also terminated

The party has also taken action against Anant Singh’s wife and former MLA Neelam Devi. According to the JDU, Neelam Devi was also allegedly involved in anti-party activities. On this basis, his primary membership has been terminated with immediate effect.

Anant Singh had already expressed confidence of victory

Before the action, Anant Singh had expressed confidence of Anuj Singh’s victory in the Legislative Council elections. Sweets and other delicacies were being prepared at his residence even before the election results were declared. Anant Singh had said that it is common to distribute sweets after victory. He claimed that his victory in the election is certain and the people have voted in his favour. The results of the Legislative Council elections were to be declared on October 27.

Anant Singh’s family has been influential in Mokama for a long time

Anant Singh and his family have had a long-standing influence in the Mokama assembly seat. Anant Singh is also known as ‘Chhote Sarkar’ in the area. Anant Singh’s membership of the assembly was terminated after being convicted in a case in the year 2022. After this, his wife Neelam Devi took over his political legacy.

RJD had given a ticket to Anant Singh in the 2020 assembly elections. After this, his wife Neelam Devi was made a candidate in the 2022 by-election and she won the election. However, in the year 2024, Neelam Devi came with the NDA. It is said that she took this decision with the consent of her husband.
