In Bihar’s Gopalganj, a case of payment of Rs 17,49,507 as arrears has come to light. Such a huge amount has been transferred to the bank account of Khushboo Kumari, a teacher of the newly created primary school in Rupanchhap Kurmi Tola of Manjha block. Now questions have started arising about the payment of lakhs, after which the Education Department has started an investigation and a three-member inquiry committee has been constituted. At the same time, a letter is also being written to return the amount paid to the teacher.
In fact, on May 26, Rs 17,49,507 was transferred as arrears to the bank account of panchayat teacher Khushboo Kumari. After the matter of payment of such a huge amount came to light, the education department has started investigating it. On October 13, the establishment branch of the department had sent a letter to the then in-charge headmaster of the school, Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, seeking a response. The departmental letter states that the then in-charge headmaster had not approved the teacher’s contribution. Despite this, questions have been raised about the teacher’s filling and signing of the form on the e-Shiksha Kosh portal.
More than Rs 17 lakh in teacher’s account
The education department is now trying to find out on whose instructions the process related to the contribution of the teacher was completed and on what basis the arrears payment was made. The teacher had cited the High Court’s order of January 12, 2026, in her favor. It has come to light that a hearing is scheduled for September 21 in the DPO establishment office regarding compliance with this order.
Questions raised about the appointment of a teacher
At the same time, the department had asked for all the original documents related to the appointment from the teacher. They were given time till October 7 to submit them. According to the department, the documents were not submitted by the stipulated deadline. Now the records related to the process of appointment to acceptance of contribution and payment are being examined.
The Department of Education is investigating the matter.
District Education Officer Amrendra Kumar Pandey said that a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter. It includes DPO establishment, DPO SSA and Block Education Officer. According to the DEO, action will be taken against those found guilty in the investigation as per rules. Also, a letter is being written to the teacher to return the amount paid.
At the moment, answers to many important questions are being sought in the investigation of the Education Department. On what basis was the teacher appointed? How was the payment process completed without the approval of the contribution? And on what basis was the amount of Rs 17,49,507 transferred to the account? Only after examining all these points will the picture be clear.
