The government will provide certified and quality seeds to sugarcane farmers in a timely manner. Additionally, monitoring of breeder seed and certified sugarcane seed producing institutions will be increased.
Sugarcane Industry Minister Sanjay Kumar issued these instructions during a review meeting held in the department’s office on Thursday. He drew the attention of departmental officials to various issues related to departmental schemes, sugarcane development programs, and farmers’ interests.
The minister himself will visit sugarcane-producing areas to assess the ground situation. He directed officials to launch the Sugarcane Chariot campaign, through which farmers will be provided with information on modern farming techniques, scientific methods, and increased production.
He particularly stressed the need to launch awareness campaigns in those panchayats where new sugar mills are proposed to be established, so that local farmers can connect with new opportunities for sugarcane production. During the meeting, Department Secretary Dharmendra Singh provided the Minister with detailed information about the schemes and programs run by the department.
