The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled an organised MDMA trafficking network operating in West Delhi, arresting four persons, including two Nigerian nationals. The police also seized around 90 grams of the synthetic drug valued at nearly Rs 1 crore in the international market, officials said on Sunday.
The arrested have been identified as Gurmeet Singh, Mukesh Kumar alias Vicky, and two Nigerian nationals — Mancabo David and Emeka Emmanuel alias Peter.
The arrests were made as part of a targeted operation under the Centre’s ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, officials said. Among those apprehended is a Nigerian national identified as a habitual offender who had previously been arrested under the NDPS Act and had served a five-year prison term, they added.
Police said the action followed sustained intelligence inputs and technical surveillance. Acting on a tip-off about active drug trafficking in the West district, a raiding team conducted a search at a premises in Ganesh Nagar, Tilak Nagar, on April 6 after complying with due legal procedures.
Two accused — Gurmeet Singh and Mukesh Kumar alias Vicky — were apprehended from the spot. Police recovered 69 grams of MDMA from Gurmeet Singh and 4 grams from Mukesh Kumar. In addition, 112 zip-lock bags, three weighing machines, packing material and Rs 37,500 in cash, suspected to be proceeds of the drug trade, were seized, an official said.
Subsequent interrogation and follow-up action led to the arrest of two more accused. On April 9, Mancabo David was apprehended with 10.29 grams of MDMA. Another accused, Emeka Emmanuel alias Peter, was later arrested, and 7.12 grams of the drug were recovered from him. Vehicles and mobile phones allegedly used in trafficking were also seized.
According to investigators, the syndicate operated in a structured manner with links across Delhi-NCR. Gurmeet Singh is suspected to be the key coordinator, managing procurement and distribution channels, while Mukesh Kumar handled logistics and local deliveries.
Police said the accused had been running an alleged escort service from a rented premises in Ganesh Nagar for the past two years, which was used as a front to facilitate narcotics activities. The network allegedly sourced MDMA from suppliers, including Nigerian nationals based in Delhi, at Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,600 per gram and sold it at around Rs 2,500 per gram.
Officials added that the syndicate used sophisticated methods to evade detection, including password-based access systems and CCTV surveillance at operating locations.
Police said the operation has significantly disrupted a major drug supply chain in the region. Further investigation is under way to establish interstate and international linkages and identify other members of the network.
