Despite the prohibition of liquor in Bihar, new methods are constantly being adopted to deliver liquor. A shocking case of liquor smuggling has come to light in Gopalganj, where the smuggler had built a secret cellar to hide liquor inside the gas cylinder. The excise police revealed this during the investigation.
The case is near Karma Tola Phulwaria in Kuchaykot police station area. The excise police team was conducting an investigation drive against liquor in the area. Meanwhile, a bike was seen coming from Uttar Pradesh. The bike was loaded with a cylinder, which was covered with a sheet. On suspicion, the police stopped the bike and started checking the cylinder. After removing the sheet, when the cylinder was examined, the police were also surprised.
When the gas was tested, it was revealed.
When the cylinder was opened, a secret cellar was built into it. Instead of gas, bottles of wine were hidden in this cellar. According to the excise police, 127 pieces of 200 ml of Bunty-Babli liquor have been recovered from the cylinder. The police have also seized the bike and the accused smuggler has been arrested.
Where did the alcohol come from? Police investigating
According to Excise Superintendent Amrutesh Kumar, the arrested smuggler is being interrogated. The police are now trying to find out where the liquor was brought from and where it was to be delivered. Along with this, the backward and forward linkages of the accused are also being investigated, so that other people associated with liquor smuggling can be reached.
The Excise Department says that a continuous campaign is being run to strictly implement the liquor ban law in Bihar. From vehicle checking to suspicious activities are being monitored in different areas of Gopalganj. At the moment, this secret cellar built inside the cylinder has revealed a new method of liquor smuggling. Now the police investigation rests on who is behind this liquor and how many more people are involved in this network running from UP to Gopalganj. In Gopalganj, the police recovered 216 litres of foreign liquor from inside a Bolero. With this, the police arrested a total of six people, including five women.
