Jitiya or Jivitputrika Vrat is considered very special like other Hindu fasts and festivals. On this day, mothers fast in the hope of happiness, prosperity and good future of their children and on this day there is a ritual of worshiping King Jimutavahana. This year, the festival will be held on October 03.
The tradition of performing this fast is centuries old and in it, mothers perform a waterless fast and worship and pray for the well-being of the children. This festival lasts not one or two but three days. On the first day, there is the ritual of bathing in the holy river or with Ganga water and then starting the fast with pure vegetarian food.
The next day is a waterless fast and on the third day, after sunrise, the fast is broken by offering Arghya to the sun. If children also do some auspicious work on the day of this fast, then God’s grace always remains on them. Let’s find out which things are considered auspicious to get children to do.
Offer Arghya to the Sun God
On the day of Jitiya fast, if children free from bathing etc. in the morning and offer Arghya to the sun, then their intellect will remain good. Not only this, it will also keep their health good and solve small and big problems in their lives.
Along with the elders of the house, children should also worship the Sun God on this day and offer Arghya to him. Also, make the child chant the mantra ‘Om Suryaya Namah‘ at least 11 times.
Take a bath by mixing Ganga water in bath water
Bathing in a holy river on the day of this fast is considered very auspicious, but it is not possible for everyone to do so. In such a situation, you should mix a few drops of Ganga water in the child’s bath water and take a bath with the same water.
This will remove many diseases and defects and the child will be blessed with good intellect and strength. Bathing with Ganga water on this day can overcome many problems of body and mind.
Seek the blessings of the elders of the house
The Jitiya fast mainly consists of the worship of King Jimutavahana and it is said that he even sacrificed his life to protect the Naga dynasty.
Even today, on the day of this fast, if both mothers and children worship King Jimutavahan, then by his grace, children are blessed with long life. On this day, it is important for children to take the blessings of all the elders of the house. If children do this, they are blessed with good health and intelligence.
If you also make the children do the work mentioned here on the day of Jitiya Vrat, then they are blessed with a bright future.
