A sudden spell of thunderstorm, heavy rain and lightning swept across several areas in Punjab early on Sunday, plunging neighbourhoods into an eerie, midnight-like darkness.
Strong winds, accompanied by lightning and rumbling thunder, disrupted normal life, uprooted trees, and caused power outages in many areas.
While the freak weather brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat, it also left streets deserted and people indoors.
