‘Fire her’: UP school principal rebuked after telling parents to ‘shut up’ and ‘get lost’

A heated argument between a school principal and a parent in Hardoi has gone viral on X, triggering widespread criticism online.

In the widely shared clip, the principal is seen shouting at a mother inside the school premises, allegedly over the purchase of books.

She is heard asking the parent to “get lost” and warning that the child’s name would be removed from the school register. The video quickly drew backlash, with users calling out the principal’s aggressive tone.

One user commented, “majority of the school in india runs with similar arrogance. they teach nothing worthwhile. run only indoctrination program to drain the family wealth.” Another user wrote, “English seekh li hai shutup ki.. inko kon banata hai principal..immediate fire larna chaiye.”

The parent, identified as Neelam Verma, later appeared in another video, claiming she had only requested 15 days’ time to arrange payment as her husband was away. She alleged that the confrontation escalated despite her request for a brief extension.

Amid the controversy, the principal released a clarification, stating that only a small portion of the incident had been shared online. According to her, the altercation took place on a vaccination day at the school, and the viral clip did not reflect the full context. She also claimed that she had been repeatedly approached to reduce school fees and had asked the parent not to persist with the request.

Reacting to the clarification, one X user wrote, “The other side of the story is quite bogus. Nothing she said even remotely explains (let alone justifies) her uncouth, undignified outburst against the hapless parents. Moreover, it’s clear Mamata Mishra has no ‘mamta’ and she’s lying about her fondness for children.” A second user commented, “She is still at fault. Scolding parents infront of their children is wrong. She should have handled things in a calm manner.” A third comment read, “Well if you cant reduce fees you normally say no and refuse further meetings on the issue. If principal gets pressurized by parents request for fees reduction and starts abusing then God bless the school.”

Despite the explanation, the incident continues to fuel debate on social media, with many questioning the conduct of school authorities in dealing with parents.
