Congress Sadbhavana Yatra: Congress leader Brijendra Singh’s ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ reached Karnal, where he shared views with lawyers. He demanded strict action on cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Congress leader Brijendra Singh’s ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ has reached Karnal in Haryana. The yatra was given a warm welcome at many places in the city. During this time, Brijendra Singh reached the District Bar Association and expressed his views among the lawyers. Senior Congress leader Birender Singh, former Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Sharma and former MLA Shamsher Singh Gogi were also present at the event. Meanwhile, Brijendra Singh has intensified the political stir by demanding strict action from the party high command regarding the cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Demand for strict action on cross-voting

Brijendra Singh reacted sharply to the cross-voting while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the crucial meeting of the Congress disciplinary committee in Chandigarh. He said, “Those who have cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections have voted by showing our in-charge and CLP leader. This should be considered as his last word and strict action is very important against him.”
He warned the party that if such cases were left lax, it would have to suffer heavy losses. “Two years later, there will be another Rajya Sabha elections. Today 5 votes have been crossed, if action is not taken, then tomorrow 10 votes will be crossed.”

‘80% of Haryana has been covered’

Talking about the success of his ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’, Brijendra Singh said that from the first day till today, this yatra has received immense public support from the public and Congress workers. This is the real strength of this yatra.
He said that through this yatra, he has covered about 80% of Haryana so far and this is the 71st assembly of Karnal where the yatra has reached. He said that it would not have been possible to undertake such a long journey without the engagement and encouragement of the public.

Candid response to the absence of local presidents

Brijendra Singh candidly answered the question asked about the absence of the district head and rural head of the Congress till 4 pm during the yatra. “I am not interested in reading anyone’s mind. I had personally invited both of them over the phone and they had also assured to come. It is possible that the son of one of them has a convocation, due to which they could not come.”

Rejecting the talk of factionalism, he clarified that in the beginning, it was seen who came to the yatra and who did not, which tried to create an atmosphere of despair. But now this yatra has gone far beyond these debates.

What next?

At present, all eyes are on the disciplinary committee meeting in Chandigarh and possible action on cross-voting. At the same time, it will also be interesting to see how much this ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ of Brijendra Singh will benefit the Congress electologically and organisationally in the coming time.
