Officials instructed to speed up procurement and lifting of wheat

Kaithal Deputy Commissioner Aparajita on Monday visited Siwan grain market and took stock of the ongoing wheat procurement operations. She directed the officials to speed up the procurement and lifting operation, and ensure that the farmers do not face any inconvenience while selling their produce.

Emphasizing transparency, she instructed that procurement must meet prescribed standards.

She also interacted with farmers present in the mandi and assured them that the state government was fully committed to purchasing their each and every grain.

The DC also checked the moisture content of wheat heaps using a moisture metre and also verified the weight of a grain bag on the spot to ensure transparency in procurement. She visited the control room established in the grain market and reviewed its functioning. She also examined the entry and outward gate pass systems. On the occasion, officials raised the technical issues with issuing the outward gate pass. She assured that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities for early resolution.

She also inspected facilities being provided to farmers during the ongoing procurement season and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Aparajita said that ensuring timely procurement, lifting and payment to farmers remains the top priority. “Officials of all departments involved in the procurement have been directed to work in coordination to ensure smooth procurement,” she said.

The DC also appealed to farmers to bring properly dried crops to avoid inconvenience.

She went on to address the problems reported in other mandis, resolving issues at the Solu Majra village silo to start wheat procurement and forwarding details of gate pass glitches to senior officials. She made it clear that any negligence by lifting agencies would invite strict action, stressing that procurement and lifting must be completed transparently within the stipulated time frame.
