Shraddha Walkar rerun: Andhra Navy officer kills lover, stores chopped up body in fridge, burns head and hands

Andhra murder: In an eerie rerun of the brutal 2022 Shraddha Walkar murder case, an Indian Navy officer allegedly killed his lover at his home in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam, chopped her body into multiple pieces, and stored the parts in a refrigerator.

According to the police, the accused, 30-year-old Chintada Ravindra, called his lover, Polipalli Mounika, to his residence in Visakhapatnam, when his wife left for her parent’s house. However, a heated argument erupted between the lovers, during which Ravindra killed Mounika in a fit of rage, dismembered her body, and stored the parts in a refrigerator.

Why Ravindra killed Mounika?

Chintada Ravindra, posted at INS Dega, had met the deceased victim, Polipalli Mounika, on a dating app ‘Mingle’ in 2021, and the two had developed a romantic relationship over time and frequently met at various locations across Visakhapatnam, such as parks and theatres.

While Ravindra got married to another woman in 2024, he continued his romantic relations with Mounika, though the couple often clashed due to Ravindra’s marital status.

On Sunday, Ravindra called Mounika over and killed 31-year-old woman following an altercation. “A Navy staff (Ravindra) on Sunday killed Mounika at his residence following an altercation and later dismembered the body, disposed of the parts at different locations,” police said.

What Ravindra told the police?

Following the brutal murder, the Navy officer walked to a police station where he confessed to the crime and told the cops that the victim had often threatened to reveal their relationship to his wife, which prompted him to carry out the heinous act.

Citing initial investigation, police said the murder was pre-planned as Ravindra was fed up with Mounika constantly threatening to disclose their relationship to his wife.

Ravindra also told the police that Mounika had allegedly taken Rs 3.5 lakh from him and threatened to reveal their relationship to his wife, leading to frequent disputes between them, officials said.

Shraddha Walkar rerun- How Ravindra killed Mounika?

According to preliminary investigations, Chintada Ravindra smothered Polipalli Mounika to death, and then purchased a knife from a quick commerce platform, which he used chop her body into multiple pieces.

As per the police, Ravindra chopped off Mounika’s head, legs, and hands. The accused packed the severed legs in a trolley bag, stored the torso in his refrigerator, and burnt the head and hands at a vacant place near Adavivaram on Sunday.

Officials said a special team has been formed to search for the missing body parts, adding Ravindra has been booked for murder, and further investigation is ongoing.

The barbaric murder of Polipalli Mounika bears eerie resemblance to the brutal killing of Shraddha Walkar, who was strangled to death by his partner, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, at their Delhi flat in May 2022.

After killing Walkar, Poonawala allegedly dismembered her, stored the body parts in a freezer, before disposing them off at various locations across Delhi to hide the gruesome crime.
