A major update has emerged regarding the alleged sale of the Bawal Assembly seat ticket in Rewari district, Haryana, ahead of the 2024 state assembly elections. Acting on a complaint filed by Gaurav Kumar, the Delhi Police have registered an FIR against individuals associated with the Congress party.
Suchitra Devi, a former office-bearer of the Mahila Congress (Women’s Wing), had alleged that the Congress High Command and the Gandhi family extorted crores of rupees under the pretext of allocating the ticket for the Bawal seat. Her husband, Gaurav Kumar, subsequently filed a complaint with the Delhi Police regarding this entire matter. Gaurav Kumar alleged that several prominent leaders of the Congress party—along with their private secretaries—accepted crores of rupees in exchange for promising a ticket for the Bawal Assembly constituency in Rewari, but ultimately failed to deliver the ticket. He also submitted documents and WhatsApp chat logs pertinent to the entire episode to the police. These documents contain details regarding financial transactions, conversations, and promises made regarding the allocation of the ticket. Based on this complaint, the Delhi Police registered a case on March 26.
**FIR Registered Against Congress-Linked Individuals at Delhi’s North Avenue Police Station**
According to sources, an FIR has been registered against individuals associated with the Congress party at the North Avenue Police Station in Delhi, and the station’s police force has initiated an investigation into the matter. The complaint filed by the husband, Gaurav Kumar, at the police station leveled allegations of fraud—amounting to crores of rupees—against senior leaders of the party. Gaurav Kumar alleged that the names of several prominent figures, including K.C. Venugopal and Kodikunnil Suresh, are linked to these transactions.
**₹7 Crores Paid to Senior Congress Leaders and Associates for Ticket**
Gaurav claims that he paid approximately ₹7 crores to senior Congress leaders and their associates in an effort to secure an assembly ticket for his wife. He alleges that neither was the ticket granted, nor are his funds being refunded. He has submitted WhatsApp chat logs and other documents to the Delhi Police Commissioner as evidence. He stated, “We have provided substantial evidence in this matter, ranging from bank statements to audio recordings.” This FIR has been registered at the North Avenue Police Station under Sections 61(2), 318(4), and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Taking the matter seriously, the Delhi Police have initiated an investigation. As of now, there is no information regarding the arrest of any accused person. However, the investigation into the case is ongoing, and a breakthrough is expected soon. This matter has created a stir within political circles. While Suchitra Devi and her husband have alleged corruption, the Congress party has not yet issued any official statement regarding the matter. Notably, however, when Suchitra raised this issue in the media, the Haryana Congress expelled her from the party.
**Claim of a ₹2 Crore Offer from an Associate of K.C. Venugopal**
Earlier, Gaurav claimed that he received a phone call from an associate of K.C. Venugopal regarding the case, offering him ₹2 crore. He was asked to make false statements against me during a press briefing. However, K.C. Venugopal forgot that we, too, have our own relationships. You cannot orchestrate a conspiracy simply by throwing money at it. If you can offer ₹2 crore to secure a statement against me, then you should simply return the money you owe me.
