Bikram Majithia has suffered a setback in the defamation case filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh. Delivering a significant verdict, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has allowed Sanjay Singh’s petition. Furthermore, it has once again ordered that Bikram Majithia be subjected to cross-examination.

**Majithia’s Petition Dismissed**
Government Counsel Ferry Soft stated that Bikram Singh Majithia had filed a defamation suit against Sanjay Singh. This case was originally registered in 2016. During the proceedings, the court had disallowed the cross-examination. Subsequently, in 2021, Sanjay Singh filed a petition in the High Court.

The High Court has now accepted the filed petition. Additionally, it has granted Sanjay Singh permission to cross-examine Majithia once again. Similarly, an application had also been filed on behalf of Majithia, seeking the inclusion of three additional witnesses in the case; however, the court dismissed this application. The trial will now resume in the Ludhiana Court.

**The Background of the Case**
During 2015–2016, prior to the Punjab Assembly elections, AAP leaders accused the Akali Dal of drug trafficking. During a rally in Moga, Sanjay Singh labeled Bikram Singh Majithia a “drug dealer” and alleged his involvement in the narcotics trade. He asserted that if the AAP came to power, such corrupt leaders would be sent to jail. Terming these allegations as baseless and defamatory, Majithia filed a criminal defamation case against Singh in a Ludhiana court in January 2016 (registered under Sections 499 and 500 of the IPC).
