Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, during his Gujarat visit, raised direct and pointed questions over the disappearance of seized drugs from police custody, putting the BJP government on the defensive over a deep-rooted nexus enabling the drug trade. Referring to reports that over 2,300 kg of confiscated narcotics were allegedly “eaten by rats,” the AAP Chief questioned the credibility of such claims, asserting that nearly 35% of seized drugs going missing from police protection exposes a serious breakdown, or complicity, within the system.
The AAP Supremo said the larger concern is not just disappearance, but how much of these drugs may have re-entered circulation, fuelling trafficking networks and destroying lives across Gujarat. Addressing a “Vijay Vishwas Sabha” in Jamnagar alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Arvind Kejriwal asserted that Gujarat has been systematically looted over the past three decades and that the AAP is now emerging as a decisive alternative determined to free the state from BJP’s grip.
Addressing the massive ‘jansabha’, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, “For 30 years, the BJP has been looting Gujarat. They have looted everything. They have destroyed schools. They have ruined hospitals. Roads are built and break within two days. Bridges are constructed and collapse within two days. There is so much corruption that in any department you go to, no work gets done without bribes.”
“Saurashtra is a very sacred land. It is the land of Lord Somnath. The temple of Dwarkadhish is here. People come from all corners of the world to seek blessings here. Today, I too have come to seek blessings from God that this time, please free Gujarat from the BJP. The BJP has ruined Gujarat. Should the people of Gujarat get freedom from them or not? Let us pray to God this time to free us from them,” he asserted.
Emphasising collusion between parties, the AAP Chief continued, “Congress and the BJP are working together and looting. Their leaders run joint businesses. They take contracts together. All government contracts go to their leaders. All government work goes to their leaders. Congress does not want the BJP to go. There is a setting between them. Both parties are looting together.”
Recalling Gujarat’s past, he added, “There was a time 30 years ago when Gujarat was the number one state in the country. It was prosperous. People were happy. The people of Gujarat had everything. In these 30 years, the BJP has destroyed Gujarat. Today it stands at the lowest level among all states. They have completely ruined Gujarat. The BJP is only a party of billionaires and millionaires. All its leaders are extremely wealthy. Budgets worth lakhs of crores come every year. Where does this government money go? All of it is spent on the wealthy.”
He stated that I have come to talk about what matters to you and your welfare. I do not know how to give speeches. I have not come to abuse anyone. Abuse does not run a household. Abuse does not raise children. Abuse does not build Gujarat’s future. I have come to speak about your future, your family’s future and Gujarat’s future.
Introducing Punjab’s example, the AAP Supremo further stated, “Before 2022, Punjab was also in a bad condition. There were two parties, Congress and the alliance of the BJP and Akali Dal. They alternated power every five years and looted together. The people were unhappy. In 2022, people drove both parties out and brought the Aam Aadmi Party, giving it 92 out of 117 seats. For four years now, the Aam Aadmi Party has been in power. If I make big promises here, you will say I am lying. I will only talk about what we have already done in Punjab. If you give us a chance in Gujarat, we will do the same work here.”
Highlighting farmers’ welfare, he continued, “In Punjab, it is a farmers’ government. Farmers are happy, prosperous and thriving because Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is a farmer’s son. He understands their pain. Before 2022, irrigation electricity used to come at 2 am, 12 am or 3 am. Farmers had to stay awake all night waiting for electricity. Is it the same in Gujarat, does electricity come at night? After Bhagwant Mann came, night-time electricity was stopped. Now every field gets 8 hours of continuous electricity during the day, from 10 am to 6 pm. Farmers no longer need to wake up at night. They sleep peacefully. Should this happen in Gujarat or not?”
On crop payments, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted, “Earlier in Punjab, farmers had to wait three to four months for payment after taking their crops to the mandi. Their crops were not procured for months. I have been told that in Gujarat also, either the government does not buy crops or payments are delayed by months. Now in Punjab, if you sell your crop in the morning, the money is credited to your account by evening and you receive a message. Should this happen in Gujarat or not? For this, you will have to remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party.”
“After coming to power, Bhagwant Mann made all electricity for farming free. Farmers do not have to pay for irrigation electricity. Do farmers in Gujarat have to pay or not? If you want free electricity for farming, you will have to remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party. Earlier only 20 percent of farmers in Punjab got irrigation water. Today, within four years, 78 percent of farmers get irrigation water. Saurashtra is facing severe water problems. There is no irrigation water and even drinking water is scarce. This problem will be solved only when you bring the Aam Aadmi Party and remove the BJP. This is the first point, that the Aam Aadmi Party government works for farmers,” he asserted.
Turning to healthcare, the AAP Chief added, “If someone in your family falls ill and you go to a government hospital, there is no treatment. Machines do not work. Doctors do not come. Nurses do not listen. Tests are not conducted. Government hospitals are in a bad state. Is it not so? In Punjab, we have provided insurance of ₹10 lakh for every family. This means if you fall ill, you can go to any big private hospital where even the rich get treated, Fortis, Max, Apollo, and get treatment up to ₹10 lakh for free. This is the first scheme of its kind in the world.”
He revealed that after bringing this scheme, Congress and BJP leaders are abusing us, saying why is this needed and that government hospitals are enough for the poor. I say if the Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs get free treatment, then farmers, labourers and traders should also get free treatment. Should it happen or not?
Questioning priorities, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Do MLAs work more than farmers? Do ministers work more than businesspersons? Our farmers work the hardest. First, farmers should get free treatment, then ministers and Chief Ministers. In the same hospitals where Chief Ministers get treated, our farmers, labourers, traders and even rickshaw pullers will get free treatment along with their families. Should this happen in Gujarat? Then you will have to remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Turning to electricity bills, he continued, “In Punjab, household electricity is free. People receive zero bills. Gujarat has the most expensive electricity in the country. People come to me with bills for small homes with just a fan and a tube light, ₹1000, ₹2000, ₹4000 bills. How will the poor pay? In Punjab, we made electricity free for everyone. When we made electricity free, leaders of the BJP and Congress criticised us, saying the government will incur losses. If ministers, Chief Ministers and MLAs get free electricity, then farmers, traders, labourers and common people should also get free electricity. For this, you must remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Announcing financial support for women, the AAP Supremo shared, “We have announced that every woman will receive ₹1000 per month. Bhagwant Mann passed this in the budget a week ago. Now every woman will get ₹1000 in her account every month. After this, BJP and Congress leaders are opposing it, saying women will be spoiled. They have taken lakhs of crores and were not spoiled, but say women will be spoiled by ₹1000. This can happen in Gujarat too, but only if you remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Calling for political change, he asserted, “For 30 years, the BJP has been looting you, yet we keep pressing the ‘kamal’ button because there was no alternative. Now the Aam Aadmi Party is an alternative. This time, everyone must vote for the ‘jhaadu’ (broom). Zila Parishad elections, block panchayat elections, block committee, municipality and municipal corporation elections are coming. Give us a chance there. Is there corruption in municipalities? Is there corruption in block panchayats? We will end corruption starting from the grassroots. Every rupee of government money will be spent on you. Sweep with the ‘jhaadu’ here.”
Arvind Kejriwal concluded by stating, “Go back to your villages and share about this change. In Punjab, there is a farmers’ government that works for farmers. Every woman gets ₹1000 per month. Every family has ₹10 lakh health insurance. Every household gets free electricity. These four things can happen in Gujarat too, but only if you remove the BJP and bring the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “For the past 30 years, the BJP has been in power in Gujarat. People tried to bring change by supporting Congress, but they too joined hands with the BJP. Now both are together looting Gujarat. It was promised that Narmada river water would reach every field, but it has not happened. Like Gujarat, Punjab is also an agrarian state. Four years ago, only 21 percent of fields in Punjab were irrigated with river water, but today 78 percent of fields are irrigated through canal water. In Punjab, farmers bring their crops to the mandi and even before they reach home, the money is credited to their accounts. But in Gujarat, the BJP government is exploiting farmers.”
Highlighting farmers’ protests and governance, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Farmers protested at the Delhi border for one and a half years demanding MSP, but they were not given MSP. There is no real opposition in Gujarat. Congress and the BJP are working together. That is why the BJP government does not care about farmers. But now Arvind Kejriwal has come with the broom of the Aam Aadmi Party to clean Gujarat. If you want to change your future and your children’s future, press the ‘jhaadu’ button and leave the rest to us.”
“We are going to provide ₹1000 to ₹1500 every month to women in Punjab to strengthen them financially. If there are three women in a family, that family will receive ₹4500 every month. Like Punjab, the people of Gujarat also deserve these facilities, but for that, they need an honest government like the Aam Aadmi Party. Therefore, this time, the people of Gujarat should give a chance to the Aam Aadmi Party,” he asserted.
