Today, i.e., on September 9, 2026, the Masik Shivratri fast will be observed, while the next day, Pithori Amavasya will be celebrated. Actually, the Masik Shivratri fast is observed on the day when the night time falls on Chaturdashi Tithi. Chaturdashi Tithi will begin today at 12:32 pm and will continue till 10:34 am tomorrow. The night time on Chaturdashi Tithi will fall on this day itself. Therefore, the Masik Shivratri fast will be observed today. On this day, it is customary to worship Lord Shiva. On the day of Masik Shivratri, after offering Belpatra, flowers, incense, lamps, and offerings to Lord Shiva, the Shiva mantra is chanted. If you’ve been feeling troubled about something old for a while, try to find closure today by taking a handful of rice. Offer some of it at a temple and give the rest to someone in need .
If you are troubled by an enemy, then to get rid of him, after bathing and taking a bath today, light a ghee lamp in front of Lord Shiva. Also, chant this Shiva mantra 11 times. The mantra is as follows: Sham Sham Shivay Sham Sham Kuru Kuru Om.
If you want to increase your wealth and material comforts, then on this day, after bathing and taking a bath, go to a Shiva temple near your home, add some Ganga water to the water and offer it to the Shivalinga. Also, pray to God with folded hands .
