The diversion of the Lohagar river on the Khesar-Jilani road near Bahorna village in Belhar block of the district was again swept away in rainwater on Saturday night. The diversion was broken three days ago.
The rural works department had repaired and restored traffic by Saturday evening, but the diversion was washed away again due to water pressure at night. This has increased the problems of more than 50 thousand people. People will have to cover an additional distance of about eight to 10 kilometers to reach the block headquarters.
In fact, the diversion was broken due to the rise in the water level of the river after heavy rains on Wednesday. This had affected the connectivity of dozens of villages of Belhar and Shambhuganj as well as many villages of Phullidumar with the district headquarters.
After the news was published in Dainik Jagran, the department started repairs as soon as the water level receded. The bridge over the river was demolished about a year ago, after which the diversion was built at a cost of lakhs of rupees. The department has said that it will soon repair and restore traffic.
